About our community projects
HACA was founded by a group of researchers at the University of the Sunshine Coast who were frustrated with the time it takes to translate healthy ageing research findings into practice. One of our aims is to improve the conversation between us and the community so we can deliver projects based on current findings that the community want and need. You can find out more about our current projects below. If you have an idea for your own community project based on any of our healthy ageing findings you have read about we would love to hear from you.
Our mission

The A-Z of Beach AT
Our team of HACA UniSC researchers and students are pooling together local knowledge and information to help you access the local beaches. This year 4th year occupational therapy students from the University of the Sunshine Coast will be surveying the locals at the local beaches to create a detailed map of available beach AT and local knowledge to access it. Information will include hire times, types of AT available, local user reviews and more!
You can contribute your own knowledge to the project and follow their progress with the link below
